A construção simula ruínas de um castelo, com catacumbas de teto abobadado. O conjunto incluía um lago com vitórias-régias, cuja forma imitava o Mar Negro, na Rússia. A visita ao local logo se tornou um hábito para muitos moradores de Belém, que ali permaneciam até a noite para testemunhar a abertura das mágicas flores da planta aquática.

The construction simulates ruins of a castle, it has catacombs with vaulted ceiling. The set included a lake with water lilies, whose shape mimicked the Black Sea in Russia. The site visit soon became a habit for many residents of  the city Belém, which remained there until the evening to witness the opening of the magical flowers of aquatic plant.

 Essa é a Bemp, uma onça preta (que é uma variação da onça pintada) que morou no Emílio Goeldi toda sua vida. Ela nasceu em junho de 1987 morreu com 27 aninhos de complicações que a idade trouxe.  Seu nome Bemp, é uma homenagem aos Kayapó, que faziam uma festa para das nome às crianças com a combinação Bemp.

Essa coloração escura da onça pintada é bem rara, embora a mãe da Bemp fosse também uma onça preta, enquanto seu pai era uma onça pintada.

Para conhecer mais sobre a Bemp, e ver onças de perto é preciso visitar o Museu, esse texto eu escrevi com o material disponível no próprio local.

This is the Bemp, a black jaguar (which is a variation of the traditional Jaguar) who lived at the Emilio Goeldi all its life. She was born in June 1987 and died of age complications with 27 years old.

Your name Bemp, is a tribute to the Kayapó Indians, who had the custom of giving a party to give name to their children with a Bemp combination.

This kind of jaguar is very rare, although the mother of Bemp was also a black jaguar, while its father was a traditional jaguar.

Também atende pelo nome Dasyprocta. Esse roedor (que eu amo, e o Beto teima em dizer que meu cabelo parece com os pelos deste animal) andam livremente pelo parque Emilio Goeldi. Infelizmente só podem ser apreciados de longe, e embora eu tenha tentado muito me aproximar, poucas tentativas deram certo. Futuramente eu posto mais fotos deste lindo roedor.

Also known by the name Dasyprocta. This rodent (which I love, and Beto insists on saying that my hair looks like the hair of this animal) roam freely through the park Emilio Goeldi in Belém. Unfortunately they can only be appreciated from afar and even though I tried an approach, few attempts were successful. In the future I'll post more photos of this gorgeous rodent.

O Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi é a mais antiga instituição pesquisa na região amazônica, localizado em Belém, capital do estado do Pará (Brasil), cujas atividades se concentram no estudo científico dos sistemas naturais e culturais da Amazônia, assim como na difusão de conhecimentos e coleções relacionadas à região. É reconhecido mundialmente como uma das mais importantes instituições de investigação científica sobre a Amazônia brasileira.

The Goeldi Museum is the oldest research institution in the Amazon region, located in Belém, capital of Pará state (Brazil), whose activities are focused on the scientific study of natural and cultural systems of the Amazon, as well as dissemination of knowledge and collections related to the region. It is recognized worldwide as one of the most important institutions of scientific research about the Amazon.
